Dear Parent or Guardian:

We are pleased to share that Toppenish School District has once again received approval from OSPI and USDA to offer free breakfast and lunch for all students for the 2025-2026 school year.

What does this mean for you and your children?

Great news for you and your students!  Students enrolled in Toppenish School District are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2025-26 school year.

While your children will be automatically enrolled in this program without having to pay a fee or complete an application, your school may ask you to complete a “Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit Application” to help your student’s school become eligible for funding for many important academic and sports programs, test fees, and Summer EBT Benefits (Sun Bucks).  Please look for that application and return it to your school right away when it arrives. These are very important programs which could provide funding beneficial to all students in the Toppenish School District.

Toppenish School District schools participate in Breakfast After the Bell.  Breakfast After the Bell gives all students the opportunity to eat a nutritious meal at the beginning of the day. Increased breakfast participation is linked to improved academic scores, reduced disruptive behavior, and reduced rates of absence and tardiness. Washington State law requires that school districts with at least 70% students eligible for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program, must participate in Breakfast After the Bell. Breakfast After the Bell means a breakfast is offered to students after the beginning of the school day and schools will allow students a reasonable amount of time to eat their meal.

Fresh Fruit & Vegetables Program will once again be offered at all the elementary schools. Students at the elementary schools will receive fresh produce every Tuesday and Thursday at no cost. The primary purpose of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs is to introduce children to fresh produce, promote healthier eating habits, and expand their consumption of fruits and vegetables, thereby combating childhood obesity and supporting their overall health and well-being.

Please contact the Food Services Department for any questions you may have.  Have a great school year!!

Sincerely,
